Established Exeter-based printers Ashley House opted for a bold approach when they launched their new website. “The new site underlines the point that we’re not like other printing companies,” explains Rob Otton, Managing Director. “Alongside the professionalism and attention to detail we bring to every project, we also wanted to create something that gets across the personality of the business. Conveying the sense of creativity and passion we bring to our work was an important part of the brief.”
Ashley House have launched a highly distinctive and engaging website. The first thing you see on entering the site is a full-screen animated film featuring a fox in a folded paper boat (we said it was different). The fox represents Rob. Other members of the Ashley House team are depicted as various types of sea creature. These avatars are carried over onto the team profiles on the site, and the animation themes are incorporated throughout the design.
“The service we offer is distinctive, and we wanted that to reflect in the site,” Rob explains, “We have some of the most advanced print facilities in the South West, but in reality only people in the trade are interested in that. We chose to showcase the team, their passion for what they do, and examples of the exceptionally high-quality print work we produce.”
Over the 30 years Ashley House has been in business they’ve earned an impressive client list featuring major UK brands. These clients have exceptionally high expectations for print quality and customer service. Getting customers to tell this story was important, so testimonials feature very prominently on the site.
The website is a real departure from how most print businesses market themselves. But then Ashley House is different from other printers, thanks to the creativity, professionalism and sheer joy they bring to their work. And as Rob Otton explains: “We’re not going to make a point about being different by creating a website that looks the same as everyone else’s. The experience of visiting the site should be like the experience of working with us – enjoyable, memorable and distinctive.”
