Monday 9 May – Signposting Triggers & Clues – 1.30pm- 5.00pm – venue: Exeter Community Centre
This half day course looks at the contexts in which participants work and how they might be able to identify a need for information, advice or support and provide appropriate signposting.The session would be relevant for receptionists, youth workers, activity leaders, mentors/befrienders, housing support workers, community care workers as well as those working in more formal settings.
Thursday 12 May – Training the Trainer – 10.00am-4.00pm – venue: Devon Communities Together, Exeter
The most effective trainers know how to inspire and motivate their audience, so this interactive, enjoyable one-day workshop is designed to build on your skills of sharing knowledge. It will provide you with the abilities you need to make learning stick through promoting learner engagement and participation.
This fast-paced programme is a must for anyone who needs to improve their communication skills, learn new techniques and develop their abilities as an effective Trainer
Wednesday 18 May – How to Manage Your Money – 10.00am-4.00pm – venue: Bitton House, Teignmouth
With real incomes falling, changes in benefits having a significant impact and personal debt at a record high, there has never been a better time to improve your personal financial skills – Managing My Money aims to do just that. This course starts by giving you practical guidance on how to compile a budget and use it to make good decisions about your spending. It explains the jargon you come across in relation to financial matters. How to compare different loans and prioritise debts, how to make savings on utilities and lastly how to make your money go that little bit further
Wednesday 25 May – Equally Different – 10.00am-4.00pm – venue: Devon Communities Together, Exeter
The aim of this workshop is to provide participants with an understanding of equality and diversity within their workplace and within the community. The interactive workshop will consider key concepts, equality and diversity, stereotyping and the nature and forms of discrimination. Participants will be able to consider their own role and responsibilities in creating a working environment which is free from discrimination and enables individuals and teams to reach their full potential. Please note that the workshop will not discuss in detail the requirements of the Equality Act 2010.
