Founded in 2011, The Exeter Initiative for Science and Technology (ExIST), a sub-group of Exeter Chamber of Commerce, is celebrating 5 years of success by launching ‘ExIST Insight’, a new quarterly magazine. The magazine will showcase the exciting work that organisations operating in and around Exeter have on offer as well as highlighting how many science and technology opportunities exist within the surrounding region.

Insight also aims to increase recognition of the number and range of Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Medicine (STEMM) organisations. This month’s edition contains editorial from companies such as Exeter City Futures, Dashboard, Ashwoods Lightfoot Ltd and the Informatics Lab at the Met office.

After 5 successful years, ExIST has accomplished 24 major events, including a major full day conference held in 2014 with regional and national attendance. Quarterly events have totalled 84 speakers and over 2,000 attendees, covering a broad range of subjects, including sectors in which the South West has a particular specialism including subjects such as big data, agri-tech, healthcare innovation and renewable technology.

Chair of ExIST, Robert McIlwraith said, “On behalf of ExIST, I would like to thank those who have contributed to this first issue of Insight. We are only able to continue ExIST, our publications and events, through the continued support of our sponsors, help from Exeter Chamber, and the outstanding contributions of our Steering Group. I cannot thank them all enough for what they do to support ExIST.”

The next ExIST quarterly meeting will be taking place on the 7th July 2016 at Sandy Park Conference Centre and will be focused around Cyber Security. This event will include high calibre speakers from companies including the Met Office, Dashboard, Securious and DynamiQ.
