Exeter Chamber of Commerce has announced that author Michael Morpurgo, OBE will be the principle speaker at this year’s Exeter Business Dinner.  Michael is the best-selling author of over 130 books for children, including the global phenomenon, War Horse.

Michael will talk about both his writing career and the Exeter-based charity, Farms for City Children, which he and his wife Clare founded 40 years ago.  An auction will be held during the course of the evening to raise money and awareness for the charity which offers children and teachers from urban primary schools the chance to live and work on a farm, gaining hands-on experience and contact with nature.

Michael said: “I’m delighted to be able to speak at the 2016 Exeter Business Dinner. Having lived and worked in Devon for over forty years, I have a very strong connection to the region. It will be fantastic to see so many Exeter businesses in one place celebrating their successes over the last 12 months.”

David Kirk, managing director of headline sponsor Kirk Hills said: “It’s a real pleasure to support the Chamber’s 2016 Exeter Business Dinner. The Exeter Chamber dinner leads the way in offering excellent business networking opportunities with the chance of creating and building valuable business relationships.”

The prestigious black-tie event, taking place on Friday 4th November at Sandy Park, is seen as one of the highlights of the Exeter business calendar and will welcome more than 300 business representatives from across the region.

David Savill, chairman of Exeter Chamber of Commerce said, “The dinner is always our highlight of the year, celebrating all that is great in business in Exeter. We are very much looking forward to this year’s dinner and especially hearing from Michael. We have already started taking bookings and encourage people to book early.  Last year’s event saw over 350 people attend and was a fantastic success.”
