The final countdown to Oxjam Exeter Takeover has begun. On Saturday 1st October, Exeter’s 4th Oxjam music festival will be taking over the cool and quirky Timepiece Bar, Timepiece Courtyard and Old Timers Bar. The festival will be held between 2pm and 11pm, where an exciting array of talented, local musicians will begin showing off their talents.
With just over 3 weeks to go, preparations are in full swing and Oxjam Exeter’s team of music-loving volunteers have a fun-filled, but jam-packed, few weeks ahead of them. There will be 3 stages for our fantastic and diverse musicians to rock out throughout the day and night. Timepiece Bar will be home to the Rock and Indie bands; Timepiece courtyard will be showcasing Reggae, Soul and Indie acts; and finally Old Timers will be the chilled stage – presenting amazing acoustic artists.
In addition to music, you will have the chance to take part in activities and win some prizes in our raffle, including food, drink and day trips to top venues! These activities will add to the fun and spirit of Oxjam, whilst helping to raise money for Oxfam GB.
This year’s line-up is phenomenal. 34 bands will be gracing their stages, including the likes of Chay Snowdon, The Stone Angels and Boundless Brothers; followed by headliners: Beacon Fire, Lionstar and Exeter’s very own Sadie Horler.
The huge intake of band applications has been more dynamic than Oxjam Exeter ever imagined. Oxjam’s intention of celebrating music in the local community will certainly be the case for Exeter, as there are so many incredible local bands and musicians. Devon and surrounding areas are definitely blessed with a diverse and talented music scene.
Tickets to the music festival can be bought online at http://www.wegottickets.com/event/370701. You can also grab yours from Timepiece Bar Exeter, Exeter’s Oxfam shops, and at Exeter’s Freshers’ Fair on Saturday 17th September. Tickets are just £10! But £12 on the door. Come join Oxjam Exeter for music, laughs and a bit of a boogie; and help them raise money for Oxfam.
Team Oxjam Exeter have been hugely successful these past few months, raising over £2500 through fundraising events leading up to the main music festival next month! These small events included a bowling competition at Tenpin Exeter, a Live Below the Line challenge, a Buskathon at Exeter’s street food market at the quay and a Rock music gig at John Gandy’s; featuring awesome local bands Firekind and Rising Tide.
