AI Energy Solutions engineers its way into the Exeter Science Park Centre

An international oil and gas engineering specialist has relocated to the Exeter Science Park Centre to immerse itself in the thriving science and technology community.

Launched four years ago, AI Energy Solutions is a Group Company of Arabian Industries LLC providing innovative engineering packages for the upstream oil and gas industry.

The firm employs a team of highly qualified engineers who design and manufacture bespoke equipment for the upstream oil and gas sector. Working with clients across the world, AI Energy Solutions are currently delivering a range of projects in Asia and the Middle East.

CEO Sebastien Camborieux and his team of highly motivated engineers moved to the Exeter Science Park Centre earlier this year, following three years at the Sowton Business Centre.

Sebastien said: “We have had our eye on the Exeter Science Park for many years, knowing it would be the perfect base for our business. Having witnessed its continued success, we decided to make the move a few months ago. The Exeter Science Park Centre has quickly become recognised as a hub of excellence for science and technology, which is core of our business and our products.

He continued: “One of the things that attracted us to the Science Park was the opportunity to work alongside likeminded people that are experiencing the same challenges that we face as a small business. It’s also a great opportunity to collaborate with a variety of niche businesses – we’ve only been here for two months but we’ve already started having conversations with two other companies.”

AI Energy Solutions works closely with clients to deliver bespoke packages, tailored to each environment and the customer’s individual needs. The team is providing specialist process engineering packages for the oil and gas industry, with a focus on Produced Water Treatment, solids management and gas conditioning.

These technologies help to overcome some of the biggest and most complex challenges faced by those working in the oil and gas industry. Produced Water is the largest by-product associated with oil and gas extraction, and every drop of water produced needs to be cleaned and treated before being disposed of or used for other purposes.

Sebastien commented: “We may be based in Exeter but we are working on global projects and spend a lot of our time travelling. For a global business, it’s imperative that we have easy access to transport links and being based just off the M5, our new base at the Science Park will enable us access the market more efficiently.”

Sebastien continued: “One of the reasons I first decided to base the business in Exeter was because of the increased recruitment opportunities. Within just two hours, there are three fantastic universities teeming with untapped talent.  We’re committed to recruiting young engineers within the local area and currently support a placement student from the University of Bath.

“The Science Park is incredibly flexible and dedicated to seeing its tenants grow and because of this I can see us being based here for years to come. In the future we would like to make use of the laboratory space available here and have PHD students developing and testing new technology on site. There’s no doubt that this is the right place for us to be.”

Having only moved in in August, they are already exploring collaboration opportunities and have some big projects in the pipeline. The building of the Science Park Centre has been made possible with shareholder equity from Devon County Council, East Devon District Council, Exeter City Council, the University of Exeter; the Heart of the South West LEP which committed £4.5m loan from the Growing Places Fund; and a £1 million grant from the Regional Growth Fund.
