Expansion continues apace for South West independent electrical wholesaler Devondale Electrical with the opening of the company’s ninth branch in Bideford.
The new branch is located on Clovelly Road Industrial Estate close to the A39 Atlantic Highway.
Devondale MD, Paul Wood, who works out of the Exeter head office said: “When the unit became available, it seemed a good time for us to strengthen our presence in North Devon.
“With a new Premier Inn and an increase in house building in the area, we decided to offer existing North Devon customers a better service; if contractors are working on one side of the river they can use our Barnstaple branch, and if they are on the other they can now visit Bideford.
The new branch is actually three units merged into one, giving a total size of 2,056 square feet, offering plenty of storage space, as well as ample parking for contractors and the public alike.
Previously assistant manager in the Barnstaple branch, Sam Stephens is the new Bideford branch manager. He leads a team of four, including Wayne Thomas and Devondale’s latest apprentice, Levi Craze who is apprenticed through EDA.
Sam, who lives in Bideford, said: “We’re very excited about this branch – after speaking to the local tradespeople, it seemed they were crying out for a flexible wholesaler on the doorstep.
“As a truly independent wholesaler, Devondale, unlike most national wholesalers, isn’t tied into using only specified manufacturers. We are able to offer a wider product choice – so if an electrician wants a particular product, we can get hold of it quickly.”
2016 has been a busy year for the electrical wholesaler, with a rebrand, branch-wide refurbishment and the opening of a branch in Paignton earlier in the year. The new business model has meant more emphasis on offering the best possible customer service throughout the branch network.
The company has also been shortlisted for Electrical Wholesaler of the Year in the Electrical Industry Awards.
