For this, the twentieth anniversary of the Devon Sports Awards which is run jointly by the Exeter Foundation, Active Devon and Exeter College, two brand new categories have been introduced in recognition of the high profile role that businesses play in keeping the community and their own staff fit and active.
The new business categories are:
Business Contribution to Sport in the Community
In recognition of a business that has made an outstanding contribution to sport in their local community in 2016, eg by offering financial support, time, facilities etc.
Business Contribution to Sporting Activity in the Workplace
In recognition of a business that has made an outstanding contribution to their employees' wellbeing in 2016 by making sure that they can take part in sport and/or lead active lifestyles.
“Many top businesses recognise that taking care of the physical and mental health of their staff and contributing positively to the local community make sound business sense and are really practical ways of attracting the best employees” said Matt Evans from Active Devon. “The new categories we are introducing this year are looking to find businesses that are leading the way and showing innovation”.
