The Great Legal Bake 2018

Wednesday 14th February – 10.00am – 200pm

In the café area on the ground floor, Exeter Combined Court Centre

Magdalen Chambers are delighted to take part The Great Legal Bake  2018 for the second year running with the assistance of Devon Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (CILEx)  and Exeter Personal Support Unit.

Between 12-16 February 2018, hundreds of law firms, chambers, courts and legal advice centres will bake to raise funds for access to justice.

In 2017 over 250 bakes were held which raised over £30,000 nationally for the provision of legal advice services to people most in need and unable to afford it.

All proceeds of this years’ bake will be raise money for

The South West Legal Support Trust, helping families with housing, the elderly stay living independently, workers on less than the minimum wage and people who suffer disability or illness and the carers.

PSU provides practical and emotional support to people facing civil or family court without a lawyer. The free and confidential service is open Monday-Friday in Exeter County Court.

Exeter Family Court Clinic provides free legal advice to unrepresented parties in Family Court via short pre-booked appointments. It is a joint initiative between local family lawyers and the PSU.

A local judge will choose the best cake and we will also have a raffle with prizes very generously donated by Clear Property, The Rendezvous Wine Bar and Magdalen Chambers. Tickets are £1 and can be purchased from the PSU office on the top floor of the Court building or from Magdalen Chambers from Monday 5th February or on the day of the bake.

Alternatively any donations can be sent for the attention of Lisa Lyons at Magdalen Chambers. All support will be very much appreciated.
