New Enterprise Allowance (NEA) need's help in recruiting volunteer mentors to help them deliver the programme.

NEA is a Dept of Work and Pensions business start up programme designed to help those on benefits into self-employment, so it’s a great programme in helping those in most need of support. Volunteer mentors are needed to help clients develop their business plan by offering support and guidance. On average a volunteer mentor will need to be able to offer 3-5 hrs of mentor support per client; a mentor can take one or several clients depending upon their availability/desire to support.

Exeter is a new area to the company and have a small number of volunteer mentors working in Exeter and the surrounding area.

A volunteer mentor can come from any background – employed, self-employed, private sector, public sector, social sector etc.

The key is being able to offer the support to the client and guide them on their journey as they develop their business plan. Availability is key as clients only have 8 weeks to complete their business plan.

Ideally NEA are looking for a further 10-15 volunteer mentors across Exeter.
