Service changes at Exeter Bus Station from 17 June 2018

By June 21, 2018January 26th, 2021Member News & Updates, Transport, Why Exeter blog
The start of enabling works needed to redevelop Exeter Bus Station means some services will relocate from the current site in June, the City Council and Stagecoach have revealed.
From Sunday, June 17, some services will temporarily relocate to nearby dedicated stands on street. Seven bays will remain in use at the bus station.
Details of the relocated services are highlighted below.
This arrangement will stay in place throughout the period of construction to create a new Exeter Bus Station, which is expected to open in the winter of 2020.
The new bus station is being funded by Exeter City Council. The council is also funding a major new leisure centre at the site, which is also expected to open in the winter of 2020.
Karime Hassan, Chief Executive and Growth Director at Exeter City Council, said: “These service changes will allow the start of enabling works which are necessary for us to deliver this key city centre redevelopment.”
Bob Dennison, managing director of Stagecoach South West, said: “My priority has always been to minimise disruption to our customers whilst the new bus station is constructed.
“I am therefore pleased that we will be able to continue to use a number of bays at the current location, helping to maintain easy access to the city centre. Our existing Travelshop will also remain open to help with customer enquiries and ticket sales.
“I look forward to continuing to work in partnership with Exeter City Council as the project progresses and the new bus station takes shape.”
The Stagecoach Travel Shop at the Bus Station will provide information on the changes to passengers. More information is also available at exeter.gov.uk/busstation
