Exeter Science Park has strengthened its senior management team with the appointment of Mike Pearce as Finance Manager.

Mike’s role will support the next phase of growth at Exeter Science Park; helping to secure funding for new buildings, liaising with the shareholders, partners and stakeholders, as well as managing the finance and accounts operation.

With nearly a decade of experience in a large commercial practice, Mike has advised businesses of all sizes. He is an Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) qualified accountant and with a BSc Hons in Mathematics and Finance.

Dr Sally Basker, CEO of Exeter Science Park, explained: “As we begin the development of new buildings and building our Science Park community, it is essential that we have robust plans and financial management in place to ensure we can grow sustainably and profitably. Exeter Science Park is a fast-growth company and we needed an experienced financial manager to do this.

“Mike’s financial expertise and experience working with senior managers in science and technology companies as well as helping Exeter Science Park to develop its current business model made him the ideal candidate for the role.”

There are currently 27 companies in Exeter Science Park Centre employing 210 people. The Park aims to have over 3,000 people employed in science, technology, engineering, maths and medicine (STEMM) businesses on site by 2034.

Mike said: “Exeter Science Park is growing fast and it’s a really exciting time to join the team. As well as a background in finance, I have a real passion for science and technology, so being part of a company in this sector is a great opportunity.”

Mike’s previous experience has included roles at leading chartered accountancy firm, PKF Francis Clark and Cornwall-based Phillips Frith Chartered Accountants.
