A launch reception for the Planet Earth Games, the world’s first environment-focussed multi-sports event will take place at the Guildhall on High Street, Exeter on Wednesday 5 December 6pm-7.30pm. The unique event is being launched by a local charity, the South West Youth Games Trust as a platform to tackle rising obesity and mental health issues among young people, but also to educate and influence young people and their families on a sustainable environment.
The Planet Earth Games will not use single use plastics and has a policy to leave no trace – organisers are committed to leaving Exeter cleaner in the course of the three day event. The Planet Earth Games will include activities for schools, clubs, families and community groups and will take place 3-5 May in central venues to be announced at the reception.
Alongside traditional sports such as football, rugby, hockey and netball, the Planet Earth Games will include plogging (picking up litter while jogging), family fun runs, Tai Chi and other activities that connect people closer to nature. Seasonal refreshments will be available on the night. Space in limited, to reserve your place email [email protected]
