The Heart of the South West (HotSW) LEP has made a significant step in publishing its progress on the Local Industrial Strategy – which will be fully formed in the summer and will set out in detail how the area intends to raise productivity and therefore economic prosperity for the residents and businesses in Devon, Plymouth, Somerset and Torbay.

Chair of the Heart of the South West LEP, Steve Hindley, CBE DL said: “HotSW LEP is well ahead of the game – which will give us a greater profile in Government and a better chance of getting the investment we need to really make our mark on the UK economy. This area is ripe for transformational growth and we’re ready and waiting to deliver on prosperity by raising productivity through investment in infrastructure and skills.

“By the summer, we will have set out exactly how we aim to do that, and today is an important landmark in showcasing the work that’s gone into the Local Industrial Strategy already, by the publication of a Progress Statement and Command Paper, along with the robust evidence base.

“I look forward to continuing to work with our partners and stakeholders in the local authorities, businesses and education establishments to create a truly workable Local Industrial Strategy that delivers prosperity for all.”

The new Progress Statement and Command Paper have been sent to HotSW MPs to make the case for the Heart of the South West in Parliament, and are available to download from the website, along with the full evidence base, at: (the Progress Statement and Command Paper are the two orange rectangular links, at the top of the links section).
