The Space Award winners of 2019 are soon to be revealed at the awards ceremony next week on 19th September and you won’t want to miss it! Last year's event saw over 200 business people pack into the RAMM for the ceremony to celebrate the city’s best workspaces and work initiatives from the likes of Lightfoot, Crowdcube, LiveWest, Hilton Barnfield and PKF Francis Clark.

This years event to be held again at the fabulous RAMM is going to be bigger and better with Exeter Gin and Topsham Brewery serving their locally based drinks and Posh Nosh serving delicious canapes. We’re sure this will help create the same ‘buzz’ in the room as last year. Hear what Mark Roberts CEO and Founder of Lightfoot said at last years event:

“The place is absolutely packed, absolutely everyone the great and the good of Exeter is here for the Space Awards even in its first year and I think what it shows is how people feel about the place in which they work. You spend a lot of your life there and people are now being recognised and rewarded for that. And look, look at the effect that has, everyone wants to be here, everyone wants to win, everyone wants to be shortlisted and everyone wants to be here to celebrate that as well in Exeter.” Mark Roberts, CEO and Founder of Lightfoot – Winner of the Best Workspace Award and 2019 sponsor

The Space Awards was launched to showcase and celebrate amazing workspaces in and around Exeter. Read about the effects of winning the awards has had on some of the businesses:

Robert Chalk, Managing Director, Chalk + Ward and winner of Well-Being Award:

“Last year we were so proud to win the ‘Well-being’ Space Award. As a team, we place great emphasis on the wellbeing of everyone here and the award was affirmation of our effort into creating a sense of wellbeing in the workplace. Since then we became the first company in the SW to sign the ‘Time To Change’ pledge, run by MIND and Re-think Mental illness, committing us to changing the way we think and act about mental health in the work place. We’re now encouraging our clients to take the pledge too. So, wellbeing remains at the top of the agenda for us and it will continue to be.”

Lucinda Coleman, Partner, PKF Francis Clark winner of the Best Open Plan Space Award:

“We saw our move to new premises last year as a great opportunity to make a statement about our company values. We achieved this by making use of bold colours and designs with an emphasis on excellent facilities for staff to work and relax in. Winning a Space award reinforced the positive effect the new office had for existing staff and in attracting new staff.”

Chris Lorimer Co-Owner Devon Business and Education Centre winner of the Best Sustainable Space Award:

“We were delighted to win the Space Award for the most sustainable venue last year. It has given us the confidence to promote Devon Business & Education Centre as the premier environmental coworking and events space in this part of the world with a modest carbon footprint but a great reputation for connecting people. Since then we have achieved national recognition, something we could never have dreamt of before winning the Space Award!”

Marie Turner, Group Facilities Manager, LiveWest winner of the Best Pubic and Third Sector Space Award

“It was a special honour to be awarded a Space award, following our move to the Skypark. We designed our new workspace to meet expectations voiced through staff engagement and the forecast demands of our widening employee demographic. The end result reflects and promotes our caring culture.”
