Exeter-based PR and Marketing agency Astley Media has created a free online communications resource pack for SMEs in the region struggling with the ongoing Covid-19 crisis.

The resource pack, which can be accessed via the Astley Media website, provides support and guidance for businesses across many areas including:

  • Maintaining internal communications
  • Hosting virtual events
  • Getting to grips with new technology
  • Handling crisis communications
  • Combining home working with childcare
  • Maintaining your company culture in difficult times

Marc Astley, CEO of Astley Media, said: “Every day we hear from clients, contacts and friends who are struggling to cope at this time. By putting the free communications resource pack together we hope to provide some advice and support to them, and other businesses in the area, who are facing challenges.

“We will continue to grow the resource pack with more content, including checklists for companies to help them engage with their customers and get to grips with new working practices.

“As well as practical support, the resource pack provides guidance on more general themes like how to stay positive, maintain company culture remotely and conduct virtual conference calls with clients while simultaneously dog-sitting and home-schooling the kids.”

The Covid 19 communications resource pack is part of a wider series of initiatives Astley Media has been implementing to help businesses thrive and stay connected through the Covid-19 pandemic.

Other more lighthearted measures taken by the company have included running fun competitions on social media, publishing daily LinkedIn posts on how the team are managing, and introducing a dressing-up challenge at their daily staff meetings.

Emma McLeod, Account Director at the firm, said: “Although these times are a challenge for the Astley Media team, we are aware that other companies are struggling a lot more than us, especially those who were not already set up for remote working or operate in customer-facing and manufacturing sectors where home-working is more difficult or impossible.

“Our staff have been brilliant, with each of them contributing to the communications resource pack and generally staying positive throughout what has been a challenging time.”
