The Barnstaple line re-opened on Monday 6 April with Network Rail completing work on time.
As you might expect methods of working with social distancing, and reduced staff numbers did mean some changes to the work programme; platform white lining, track renewals between Lapford and Kings Nypmton and work on Battesford Bridge could not be included this time. These works will be rescheduled, and once all is complete Network Rail will be able to increase the line speed up to 75mph.
It is good that Network Rail were able to get us this far despite the very challenging circumstances that we all now find ourselves in, and we pay tribute to their teams for doing so.
