ECS is Exeter’s oldest school, and the only school in the city to offer boarding. The earliest written reference to the School is 1179 and the School continues to educate the 36 boy and girl choristers for Exeter Cathedral. Now a thriving Prep School of some 250 boys and girls, ECS offers a broad and balanced education which has its roots in Christian values.
We’ve been going for over 900 years, so there is a tremendous amount of history, tradition, culture and heritage in the walls and in the blood. But there is also freshness, dynamism, modern facilities, and a real sense of pride in being an ancient foundation with traditional values and a modern approach, and a place where children can be children.
