Leading South West law firm, Stephens Scown LLP, has recently welcomed two new experienced Commercial Property solicitors into its highly respected Real Estate team.
John Beesley and Aimee Barrable bring a combined experience spanning over 50 years in commercial real estate to Stephens Scown’s Commercial Property team, which is highly respected by independent guide Legal 500 for their “broad experience and expertise”. Chambers legal directory also hails the firm’s “notable regional team” reputation and “speed of response, excellent advice and value-for-money service.”
John Beesley, a highly regarded property specialist with 36 years’ experience, 23 of which were spent at a leading London-based law firm, has acted on a wide spectrum of mainly commercial but also residential property matters. These range from freehold and leasehold acquisitions and disposals (including development sites), options and promotion agreements, providing advice to landlords and tenants on liabilities on existing leasehold premises, property finance (including acting for mezzanine funders of residential property developments), and property support on corporate transactions, through to acting for mixed use developer clients on commercial lettings (including schemes to avoid leaseholder pre-emption rights under the Landlord and Tenant Act 1987), and disposals to investor tenants.
Recent experience includes advising a client in relation to a dilapidations settlement agreement on exiting a substantial office building in West London and, as part of their relocation programme, advising the client on the acquisition of office space in a newly refurbished building.
John says: “I am enjoying working as part of a larger real estate team, and am confident that existing and new clients will respond positively to the breadth and depth of experience available, particularly in planning and construction.”
Meanwhile, with over 15 years’ experience in commercial real estate, Aimee Barrable advises on a wide range of commercial property matters with substantial experience in landlord and tenant transactions and investments, including portfolio sales and acquisitions. She has advised clients across a wide range of sectors from banks, retailers and hair salons through to logistics companies and leisure operators, including family entertainment centres, restaurants and pubs.
Notable work includes advising Santander on property matters for over a decade, including leading on portfolio property disposals as part of their property rationalisation, and project managing a team in the delivery of a large-scale multi-site assignment programme for Arqiva, delivered in a tight timescale to meet the client’s strategic needs.
Aimee comments: “I particularly like developing great working relationships with clients as there’s nothing better than feeling like you’re part of their trusted team.”
Michael Beadel, who heads up the firm’s sizeable Real Estate team, says: “I am delighted to welcome John and Aimee to our rapidly expanding team. They are both highly respected commercial property solicitors and have already started making a difference to the team.”
The commercial property team is the largest at the firm, advising on a wide range of property related issues, including residential and commercial developments, landlord/tenant leases, planning advice and all other development matters.
