South West survey will uncover how businesses’ use of technology has changed since the pandemic

In a new survey, small and medium sized businesses are asked how the pandemic has impacted their use of technology.

In addition to revealing the technologies most favoured by SMEs, the data gathered in the ‘Time to Deliver’ survey will uncover insights around businesses’ approach to technology, how many have a strategy, and how effective it is in delivering against objectives.

The study has been launched by Devon-based tech company Timewade in partnership with award-winning chartered accountants Bishop Fleming as part of the ‘Technology for Success’ programme, which provides free guidance to South West businesses on how to implement an effective technology strategy, and use technology to improve productivity and growth. This is the third technology survey carried out by Technology for Success since 2019.

Julian Wills, Founder of Technology for Success and Managing Director of Timewade, said: “The pandemic has had a massive impact on the way businesses are working and therefore on the types of technology they are using and investing in.

“Timewade and Bishop Fleming want to find out the challenges that businesses are facing when it comes to using technology in the current climate. We’re also looking to understand how they can be supported to use technology better as they get to grips with new ways of working, such as hybrid working, which has increased dramatically in response to the pandemic.

“The ‘Time to Deliver’ survey will uncover whether businesses are delivering on their tech strategy, and whether they have one at all! It will also offer key recommendations to help South West businesses plan for the next 12 months.”

Pippa Clarke, Head of Technology, Innovation and Growth at Bishop Fleming said: “We are pleased to be supporting this years’ Technology for Success survey which aims to understand how businesses are implementing their technology strategies.

“It is no secret that the pandemic has propelled technology to the forefront of most business leaders’ minds as we are now in a world where businesses cannot operate without sufficient technology embedded into their processes.

“The survey will shine a light on investing in tech, the challenges faced, and plans for the next five years. The results will be used to support businesses on their growth and investment plans in the future.”

Businesses who take the survey will be sent a report detailing the findings and recommendations, to help them develop new approaches to their use of technology to support their teams, customer acquisition, and growth.

Participants will be entered into a draw to win a £100 John Lewis voucher.

The survey will run through November and December. Initial results will be revealed and discussed at the Technology for Success roundtable, where experts from Timewade, Astley Media, and Bishop Fleming will be on the panel, discussing the steps businesses need to take to deliver on their technology strategy
