Bertram Fairbanks, formerly known as Bertram Law, continues to raise the bar, with the appointment of Julia Knight as a new Partner and Head of Commercial Property at its Pynes Hill, head office in Exeter, in line with its ongoing ambitious expansion plans.

Qualifying in the South East in 2005, Julia trained and worked at specialist commercial firms, before relocating to Devon in 2009.  With nearly twenty years’ experience, she advises clients on all aspects of commercial property work ranging from sole traders to large corporate entities.  Julia deals with sales and acquisitions, secured lending, refinancing, and lease work and all it entails. She also has expertise in advising charities and pension funds on property transactions and the specific requirements that must be met.

Julia comments: “I’m absolutely delighted to have joined Bertram Fairbanks as a partner and to be heading up its commercial property department. The firm prides itself on providing high-quality, partner-led advice, coupled with excellent customer service.  This fits with my aim to provide legal expertise whilst remaining approachable, down-to-earth, and friendly. I can’t wait to work with the fantastic team!”

Neal Bertram, Director – Bertram Fairbanks says: “We are so excited that Julia joins our growing team.  She fits in well with our office culture of a more relaxed yet highly professional service together with a wealth of knowledge and experience in her area of expertise and will be an asset to the business.  Julia is well known in the local market and the reaction to her appointment has been excellent”  Neal added “This concludes stage one of our recruitment strategy, having now put in place heads of department in our three core practice areas of commercial litigation, corporate commercial and commercial property”.

Fellow partner Annelie Carver, with more than two decades of experience in advising on a wide range of businesses from start-ups to public-listed companies, provides corporate and commercial legal advice.  She joined Bertram Fairbanks when it launched last year.  She says: “Bertram Fairbanks has a fresh approach to looking after its valued clients and supporting their individual commercial business requirements by working very closely with them and gaining a full understanding of their needs. Having Julia as part of the team will ensure that we can offer an even greater and more expansive service to continue our ongoing expansion plans and we are really excited about the future.”

Bertram Fairbanks will be introducing Julia to further members of the Exeter business community at the Exeter Chamber of Commerce Thirsty Thursday event being held at their Belvedere Lounge on 9th February and at their own Property Launch event at the end of February.
