Leadership Edition: Navigating the Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Frontier

ExIST (Exeter Initiative for Science & Technology), the STEMM initiative from Exeter Chamber announces the first in the series of Leadership Editions – Navigating the Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Frontier taking place on Thursday 7 December, at The Forge, Winslade Park, Clyst St Mary, Exeter.

The Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) focussed event will bring together global technology business leaders and local data specialists to highlight the responsible adoption of AI and ML by business leaders.

Six keynote speakers will lead on AI and ML related topics, including AI and Sustainability, AI and ML ethics and the adoption of AI and ML to drive business transformation.

SPEAKERS

Tom Meyer – Director at Ajar and former Principle Software Engineer at Meta will be sharing his experience on “Bringing AI from Research into Product: Lessons learned at start ups and at Meta” . Tom will be discussing practical experience with the hard work you need to do to take the amazing results of researchers and turn them into a real-world shippable product that has a consistent experience with hand held devices, rooms and situations.

Michelle Bieger – Software Engineer at digiLab, is a PhD candidate and part-time software engineer at the machine learning SAS company digiLab. Michelle has worked at the Institute of Physics in London as a team coordinator, and at e2E as a software engineering working mainly with Java. Michelle will be talking about the ethics surrounding AI and ML.

Richard Potter – Director of Digital Strategy, Microsoft, advises business leaders on how to create value through digital transformation and innovation. With over 20 years of experience in the digital field, Richard has a proven track record of leading and delivering complex and impactful projects across various sectors and geographies. He is passionate about empowering organisations and individuals to embrace the opportunities and challenges of technology and its impact on business and society.

Dominic Mac – CTO, PwC will discuss how cross sector business are using Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI & ML) to drive business transformation, enhance their competitive position and acquire new customers. Dominic is responsible enabling his clients to solve their most important real world business problems and brings over two decades of experience in developing technology led service offerings and propositions for global banking and capital markets clients.

Tom Morgan – Managing Director at C-Suite Fundamental and former Senior Executive Partner at Accenture will share what to do when it goes wrong, how to deal with the fall out of bad decisions and how to recover business credibility and brand equity. During his time at Accenture Tom held P&L responsibility and managed large delivery and sales teams, hands-on delivery of multi £m projects and complex global technology programmes. Tom now leads C-Suite Fundamental which provides white-label services delivering market-changing business growth for global enterprises, and for mid-size boutiques and exciting start-ups as they prepare for investment, sale, post-acquisition integration and successful earnout.

Charles Courtenay – Earl of Devon and Partner at Michelmores will lead a discussion on Artificial Intelligence and Sustainability considerations. Charles is Barrister and Partner in the Commercial & Regulatory Disputes team at Michelmores working between London and Exeter focusing on intellectual property and other complex commercial disputes, with particular emphasis on cross border, technology and finance matters. Charles is also the Earl of Devon and, independent of his work at Michelmores, owns and operates the Powderham Estate, near Exeter, focusing upon sustainable heritage and land management.
