Exeter City of Literature

Exeter City of Literature
We are an independent not-for-profit set up in 2021 to manage Exeter’s Unesco City of Literature designation that the city recieved in 2019. We run the annual Book Market every summer and the ongoing bibliotherapy course with Exeter College. Last year, we produced a printed and digital literary map of Exeter and Devon, which is being re-printed this year in honour of Exeter’s 5th anniversary as a UNESCO City of Literature. We also bring the literary and storytelling sector together to promote Exeter as a place of readers and storytellers.

The UNESCO Creative Cities Network
The UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN) was created in 2004 to promote cooperation with and among cities that have identified creativity as a strategic factor for sustainable urban development. The UNESCO Cities of Literature network of 53 cities represents six continents and 39 countries and a combined population of over 81 million. The Cities of Literature network works closely together on projects that benefit literary tourism and place-shaping, international cooperation, and bolstering the literary sector globally.
