Supporting Devon Businesses To Take Action For The Planet

Planet & People, an organisation initially founded to bridge the gap in environmental education in schools has extended it reach to support businesses, especially those connected to the education sphere, to be proactive about sustainability and boost their race to net zero and beyond.

Mid-Devon based entrepreneurs Jess Carter & Bethia Stevenson-Paul, from Planet & People,  are a passionate teacher and environmentalist team working tirelessly to be positive and practical in a time of great challenge.

Having established themselves as the ‘go to’ people for environmental education workshops in Devon schools, Jess and Bethia have carefully curated a circular model for their social enterprise – they help businesses to be more sustainable, in a market where sustainability credentials are of increasing importance, as well as supporting their Planet Action Workshops series in schools.  In turn, they hope that this will inspire the next generation of responsible citizens and future business-owners to place sustainability at the core of their enterprises.

The Devon Planet Action Partnership (DPAP) is the consultancy part of their organisation through which they are starting to engage businesses to collectively take action for the planet via a supportive and practical framework. Their ‘Sustainable Foundation’ package guides businesses, from sole traders to social enterprises and SMEs, through a series of sessions to create and implement a six month action plan to take the next step on their journey to net zero. This model can be moulded to any business and budget and has been developed over many months using a wealth of project management and training experience. The DPAP have a holistic approach focusing on areas beyond carbon accounting, such as biodiversity and community impact.

It is clear that we are transitioning into a new era of business where investors, contractors and clients are demanding better sustainability and environmental credentials. We are also in the midst of an energy crisis and operating sustainably will help to cut costs.   The Devon Planet Action Partnership will help you to position yourself more favourably and to have a positive impact on the planet.    Definitely a great way to start the New Year!

SMEs contribute to 50% of the UK’s carbon emissions, so it is a great place to make positive change and there is no better time to take action. Let’s work together to find the pathway that suits your business best’ says Jess Carter, Co-founder of DPAP.

As a small social enterprise ourselves, we are acutely aware of the current economic situation. We offer a helping hand to businesses that are keen to take action to play their part in the environmental crisis but do not necessarily have much budget right now. We can tailor our support accordingly, any change for the better is a change worth making!

We would love to chat about your requirements and find out how we can help you make your business more sustainable. For a free initial consultation, give Jess a call today!   You can find our contact details on our website below.
