Once again, Exeter Phoenix will be hosting a full day of free activities in partnership with a wide range of local groups and organisations, to promote good mental health and wellbeing alongside Mental Health Awareness Week.

From discussions to workshops and creative performance, Bloom is here to encourage and enable discussion, raise awareness of the wide range of support and services available locally, and to utilise creativity as a tool for self-expression and wellbeing.

This year the theme for Mental Health Awareness Week is: “Moving more for our mental health”, and the festival’s programme has plenty to get your body and mind in motion. You can start the day off energetically with a family-friendly morning rave hosted by Poco Drom, or take a more meditative approach with the gentler ‘Yopo’ intuitive movement practice from Soul Warriors. You are invited to take a movement and music journey with Alda Gomez in her ‘Abundance in Everyday Life’ workshop, and you can join Robin Collins from festival partner Iron Mill College for a Mindfulness and Movement workshop, exploring movement in meditation and the self-care and wellbeing mindfulness practices can offer to everyday life.

Other activities throughout the day include a ukulele workshop, all-ages crafting, writing for resilience, short films, group singing and much more for everyone to enjoy.

We are excited to be welcoming back Iron Mill College as our festival partner this year. Established over 40 years ago, Iron Mill offer courses in counselling, psychotherapy, and psychological well-being. They said:

“We are delighted to once again be sponsoring the Bloom Festival.  As a local college that specialises in training the next generation of counsellors and psychotherapists, this festival is close to our heart.  Everyone benefits from looking after their mental health and the festival helps bring this to the fore and allows people to explore tools and techniques that can help support and improve wellbeing.  Come along and say hello, or join our  “Movement and Mindfulness” session, with our fabulous tutor, Robin Collins. We look forward to seeing you then!”
